How Brickowner invests raised funds

Before raising for each investment Brickowner will complete its own due diligence and verify all marketing before each raise. All information collected is signed off by our investment committee before being listed on our platform for funding.

Once funding completes we work with a panel of trusted solicitors to draft the legal agreements and register the relevant security. Our investment will only complete once the legal due diligence has been signed off by our lawyer and on confirmation that the contract aligns with the Investment Memorandum.

On completion, investments are made through a Brickowner fund. This can either be through Brickowner Investments Limited or an LLP fund managed by Brickowner IM Ltd. Funds are invested through a special purpose vehicle which is a company set up solely to invest in the property. The exact structure of each investment may differ so please check the investment structure page for each property.

3. You won't get your money back quickly

• Even if the fund you invest in is successful, it may take several years to get your money back. You are unlikely to be able to sell your investment early.

4. Don't put all your eggs in one basket

• Putting all your money into a single business or type of investment for example, is risky. Spreading your money across different investments makes you less dependent on any one to do well.

• A good rule of thumb is not to invest more than 10% of your money in high-risk investments. Learn more here.

5. The value of your investment can be reduced

• The percentage of the business that you own will decrease if the business issues more shares. This could mean that the value of your investment reduces, depending on how much the business grows. The fund is likely to issue multiple rounds of shares.

• These new shares could have additional rights that your shares don't have, such as the right to receive a fixed dividend, which could further reduce your chances of getting a return on your investment.
